March into Reading

A Week Bursting With Book‑Filled Fun!
This year’s World Book Day grew into a full week of excitement, creativity, and celebration. From assemblies and competitions to two unforgettable trips and beautifully decorated corridors, the whole school embraced the joy of reading.

World Book Day Assembly
We began the week with a whole‑school assembly celebrating the power of stories. Pupils enjoyed readings, book recommendations, and reflections on how reading can spark imagination and open new worlds.

Book Vouchers for Every Pupil.
Every student received their official World Book Day voucher, giving them the chance to choose a free book or put it towards a new read. The excitement around choosing the perfect book has been wonderful to see.

The Great Big World Book Day Footy and Booky Quiz 2026 – World Book Day Online.
One of the highlights of the week was The Great Big World Book Day Footy and Booky Quiz 2026, which pupils took part in online. The quiz blended book knowledge with football‑themed fun, creating a lively and memorable experience for everyone involved.

Bookmark and Book Jacket Design Competition.
Pupils let their creativity shine in our design competition, producing imaginative bookmarks and book jackets inspired by their favourite stories. The winning designs will be announced soon and displayed proudly in the library.

Harry Potter Warner Bros. Studio Trip – 4th March 2026.
Pupils stepped into the world of magic with a visit to the Harry Potter Warner Bros. Studios. From the Great Hall to Diagon Alley, the trip brought the wonder of storytelling to life and left everyone buzzing with excitement. One pupil said: “It felt like walking into the actual film — the Great Hall was my favourite part! Seeing all the props made me want to read the books again from the beginning.”

Science Museum Trip – 6th March 2026.
The celebrations continued with a trip to the Science Museum. While not strictly book‑related, the visit tied beautifully into our theme of curiosity, discovery, and learning — the same spirit that fuels great reading. A pupil commented: “I loved the space gallery — it made science feel like a real adventure. The experiments were so cool. I want to read more science books now!”

March Into Reading: School Decorations
This week also marked the beginning of our March Into Reading celebrations. Throughout the school, corridors and classrooms have been transformed with colourful displays, character artwork, and inspiring book quotes. A special highlight has been our Harry Potter display, which has captured pupils’ imaginations and linked beautifully with this week’s studio tour.

And the fun doesn’t stop here — we still have lots of reading events coming up throughout the month of March, giving pupils even more opportunities to explore stories, discover new authors, and celebrate the joy of reading.

A Celebration to Remember
From magical adventures to creative challenges, this week has shown that reading is more than a school subject — it’s a doorway to imagination, discovery, and joy. Thank you to all pupils and staff who have helped to make our World Book Day and March Into Reading celebrations truly unforgettable.
