Music at CBC
Intent:
At CBC, the music curriculum intends to cultivate students’ musical abilities with a particular emphasis on new and innovative technologies alongside traditional instrumentation. By integrating cutting-edge tools and techniques, it is intended that students are exposed to a dynamic and modern musical experience and will foster a well-rounded understanding of music, whilst having the independence to explore particular areas of interest. This curriculum intends to inspire creativity, encourage experimentation, and prepare students for the diverse landscape of contemporary music, promoting a lifelong appreciation for musical expression.
Implementation:
Sessions take place Monday to Thursday 13.30-14.25 and all students take part in one of these sessions per week, with targeted additional withdrawals on an individual basis at arranged times from 11.30-13.00. Further sessions take place on Friday mornings for specific identified members of the cohort.
While currently a non-accreditation course, we are working towards offering NCFE Certificate in Music Technology.
Impact:
Our approach to music aims to build self-confidence by giving students an opportunity to showcase and perform their music for each other and for staff on a regular basis. Students are put forward for external opportunities such as the pan-London Boroughs United event
