Behind the Scenes at West Ham FC

This month, students from CBC enjoyed two exciting educational visits to the London Stadium and West Ham United’s training ground, giving them a unique opportunity to experience the world of elite sport up close.

The trips provided students with an insight into the facilities, careers and daily operations that support one of the country’s leading football clubs. During their visit to the London Stadium, students explored areas usually reserved for players, coaches and officials, learning about the stadium’s history and its role as both a sporting and community venue. The visit to West Ham’s Training Ground was equally inspiring. Students were able to see where professional players train, learn about the dedication required to perform at the highest level and gain an understanding of the many careers that exist within the sports industry beyond playing football.

One student said: “I really enjoyed seeing behind the scenes and learning about what happens on matchdays. It made me realise how much work goes into running a football club.”

Another student commented: “The training ground was my favourite part because it showed us where the players practise and prepare. It was amazing to see it for myself.”

The visits form part of CBC’s commitment to providing enriching experiences beyond the classroom, helping pupils broaden their horizons, develop aspirations and connect their learning to the wider world.
